I recently went through the home buying process myself again—and I’ll say this: every real estate agent should do this every few years.
Not because we don’t understand the process… but because we forget how it feels.
Buying a home is layered. It’s emotional, overwhelming, exciting, and at times, unexpectedly complex. Even knowing the contracts, timelines, and strategies, I found myself pausing at decisions that felt heavier than I anticipated. Because this time, it wasn’t just a transaction—it was personal.
There are questions you can’t fully prepare for until you’re in it:
Where do I actually want to build a life?
What kind of environment do I want for my kids?
Do I value walkability, privacy, community, land, proximity, schools, convenience, or a balance of everything?
And then there’s the surprising part—what you think you want going into the process is often not what you end up choosing.
Sometimes, you walk into a home or a neighborhood and something just clicks. No spreadsheet or checklist can fully explain it. It’s that quiet clarity of this is it—even if it looks completely different from what you imagined at the start.
Going through this firsthand was a powerful reminder of just how important it is to have the right guidance in your corner. Not just someone who can open doors or write offers, but someone who can help you navigate uncertainty, ask the right questions, and advocate for you when it matters most.
Because behind every transaction is a real person making one of the biggest decisions of their life.
And now, more than ever, I’m reminded why that responsibility should never be taken lightly.
