April always feels like a reset. The snow finally melts here in Dane County, the days get a little longer, and everything starts to come back to life. As a mom, it’s also that time of year when life somehow gets even busier—school events, sports starting up, and trying to soak in that first warm day outside with the kids.
And honestly, real estate feels the same way.
Spring is one of the most active seasons in the market. Just like everything blooming around us, buyers and sellers are ready for a fresh start. Homes feel different this time of year—brighter, more inviting, full of possibility. It’s when people start picturing their next chapter.
And right in the middle of it all… spring break.
Whether you’re heading somewhere warm, taking a quick road trip, or just slowing down at home with your kids, there’s something about stepping out of your normal routine that gives you clarity. I can’t tell you how many clients I’ve had come back from a trip and say, “Okay… I’m ready. It’s time.”
Because when you pause, you start thinking differently:
What do we want more of in our next home?
More space? A better layout? A different location?
A backyard we’ll actually use?
As a mom, “home” means so much more to me than just a house. It’s where your kids grow up, where routines happen, and where the little moments you don’t realize are important at the time turn into everything later on. It’s the chaos of getting out the door in the morning, the quiet after bedtime, and everything in between.
That’s why I approach real estate the way I do—because I know it’s not just about buying or selling. It’s about where your life unfolds.
April isn’t just a “busy” time in real estate—it’s a strategic one.
For buyers, this is when more homes start hitting the market, which means more opportunities—but also more competition. The best homes don’t sit long, and having someone proactive and competitive on your side makes all the difference.
For sellers, this is your moment. Homes show their best with natural light, buyers are motivated, and when positioned right, this is when you can truly maximize your sale.
From a mom’s perspective, house hunting looks a little different too. I always think about the real-life moments:
Can you picture your kids running through the backyard?
Is there space for both the chaos and the calm?
Does it feel like somewhere you can actually live—not just something that looks good online?
Because the “perfect” home isn’t about perfection—it’s about fit.
Even if you’re just starting to think about moving, April is the perfect time for a reset. Declutter a small space. Walk through your home like a buyer would. Start the conversation early. These little steps can put you in a completely different position when you’re ready to make a move.
At the end of the day, April is about fresh starts—but not in a big, overwhelming way.
It’s in the small moments.
The conversations after a trip.
The feeling that maybe it’s time for something new.
The idea that your next chapter might be closer than you think.
And if you’re in that place right now—whether you’re ready to move or just starting to think about it—I’m here for it all.
