As a parent to a very active 19-month-old, I'm constantly on the hunt for new, fun experiences for our little guy — and for the rest of our family, too. Living in Madison has proven to be a great advantage when it comes to finding family-friendly activities, especially for kids under 5. Slowly but surely, we’re discovering some true gems around town that have become part of our weekly rhythm. If you're a fellow parent to a toddler, I hope these ideas help add some variety to your mornings!
Urban Air (Sunday Mornings – 8 to 10 AM)
We recently found out that Urban Air in Madison opens early on Sundays just for kids ages 5 and under. It's a total win! For a super affordable price, our son gets to enjoy what he lovingly calls the “jump jump” place — and as parents, we love that we don’t have to worry about him getting mowed down by a high schooler doing backflips. It’s calm, safe, and packed with energy-burning fun.
Goodman Pool (Friday–Sunday, 8 to 11:30 AM)
If your little one is still warming up to the water like ours is, the 10-and-under swim sessions at Goodman Pool are fantastic. It's only $6 for adults and free for kids under 3 — not bad for a sunny morning spent splashing around. We’ve found this to be a gentle, playful introduction to the water without the overwhelming crowds.
Achieve Gymnastics Center – Open Gym (Fitchburg)
This was a hidden gem we stumbled on, and now we’re regulars. Achieve offers open gym times for kids under 5, and it’s a dream for energetic toddlers. Padded floors, kid-sized gymnastics equipment, and plenty of space to explore — it's the perfect place to burn off some serious energy, especially on a rainy day.
We’re always on the lookout for more toddler-friendly places, so if you have a favorite, please share! From music classes to nature walks and everything in between, there’s so much joy in exploring Madison through the eyes of a child.
Thanks for reading — and happy adventuring!
